Launching the Next Generation with SpeedTree

It’s finally time: the PS5, Xbox Series X, and multiple blockbuster titles are finally out (of stock)! We’re excited to plug in our shiny new systems and start playing, not just because we’re gamers at heart, but because our tools were integral to the creation of these exciting new worlds. For years, the SpeedTree SDK has been at work behind-the-scenes, powering the pipelines that brought us to this moment.

We’ve been around for several generations of consoles and every advancement brings a mix of excitement and new challenges. This week is the culmination of countless hours spent working with dev teams to prepare our tools for next-gen pipelines, consoles and games, all so artists can create the expansive and immersive worlds we love to explore. 

For the developers, this meant taking a fresh look at our industry-standard SpeedTree SDK (version 9 is in beta now) and getting it ready to tackle the bigger, bolder game worlds being built with the latest technology, including real-time renderers, cutting-edge graphics, and the most powerful gaming consoles we’ve ever seen. Like our industry peers, SpeedTree tools are fully compatible and at the forefront of performance. We’re ready for the next generation.
