If the projects we’ve seen this month are anything to go by, we aren’t alone in feeling reinvigorated by the return of sunshine this Spring. Find ample inspiration in five of our favorite projects from March 2022!

Thomas Harvey – “Winter Cave”

As we emerge from our Winter hibernation indoors, we found Thomas Harvey’s “Winter Cave” visualization both a fitting sendoff for the cold season and a cool example of projection mapping as a practical filming effect. Build a real-time winter scene of your own with tips from self-taught 3D artist Alexandre Martin

BH Hwang – “Town Bus”

Short, sweet, and impeccably stylized: BH Hwang’s short animation features bright pops of color and round, appealing blobs of foliage. The flowers by the bus stop add a vibrant touch of color: do the same in your scene with Anthony Fylladitis’s breakdown of “Marigold”

Michael Lillis – “WAMA Art and Wildlife museum visualisation”

Archviz artist Michael Lillis’s love of Australian nature is apparent throughout his body of work; this visualization of a museum and garden to be built next to the Grampians National Park allowed his passion to shine brighter than ever. Find another archviz artists’ detailed commitment to their scene’s environment in our interview with Vincent Filhine-Tresarrieu.

Michael MK Khinevich – “Moon Gate”

Inspired by a trip to the Yangshuo mountains in China, Michael MK Khinevich’s, “Moon Gate,” invokes a sense of wonder in scale and beauty in its stylized simplicity. Find another moon gate in our breakdown of “WiNDUP,” an animated short film made in Unity.

Aaron Westwood – “World Creator – I AM”

We’ve enjoyed the still concept and environment art of Aaron Westwood for quite some time now but his short film “I AM,” produced for the release of World Creator 3, provides us with a rare view of his breathtaking work in motion. If realism isn’t up your alley, check out the detailed breakdown of the stylized world in, “The Aorta Valley” by Arnaud Claudet.

Scots Pine: Forest
Eastern White Pine
(Cinema | Games)

While we aren’t sure where the trees featured on the exterior of Thomas Harvey’s, “Winter Cave” are, they do look large and the eastern white pine is the largest tree in eastern north America.

Boxwood
(Cinema)

The rounded foliage featured in BH Hwang’s, “Town Bus,” reminds us of our meticulously shaped boxwood.

Red Gum Eucalyptus: Sapling
Red Gum Eucalyptus
(Cinema)

Because Michael Lillis’s visualization of a wildlife and art museum is based around native and endangered Australian vegetation, we can’t think of a better model to suggest than the red gum eucalyptus, endemic to Australia.

Bushy Bluestem Grass
(Games)

While more realistic than the grass depicted in Michael MK Khinevich’s “Moon Gate,” this groundcover will create a similar, overgrown effect.

Hiba Arborvitae Cedar Species Pack

(Cinema)

A favorite biome in Aaron Westwood’s, “I AM,” is the coniferous forest, among which our hiba arborvitae cedar dwells.
