Description
Kapok
The Ceiba pentandra, also known as the Kapok, is a deciduous tree that grows in tropical rainforests. The Kapok produces about 500 to 4,000 seeds in a season. Its seeds are equipped with fine, silky fibers that can be used in thermal and acoustic insulation. A sacred tree in Mayan lore, it was believed that the soul could only reach heaven through the highest branches of a kapok tree.
