In the blink of an eye another month has gone by! While we recover from Siggraph, we’re looking back at five of our favorite projects from the whirlwind month of July!

Mario Cameras – The Devil is in the Details

This aptly named archviz animation is packed with details, among them being photoreal vegetation that adorns the lawn and the poolside.

Mostafa Samir – Baghdad

An exercise in creating a massive environment, the sprawling cityscape of “Baghdad,” is dotted with trees and the tiers of golden domes overlooking the city sit within an oasis of lush vegetation.

Tomas Rodriguez – Lemon

An animation with an important message, the tropical island of “Lemon,” is densely packed with beautiful, realistic vegetation (which helps sweeten the bitterly sad message of this film for Fundación Reina Sofia.)

Gerard Coquemont – Space Safari: Imaginary Trip

Gerard Coquemont took a class project prompt and gave us a dreamy vision letting koi swim among pink clouds, a broken building, and the branches of a tree.

Jeff Rowe – Giants

In Jeff Rowe’s imaginative prehistoric/fantasy environment, what appears to be a mix between a turtle and a brontosaurus munches on the pink vegetation that shades the dense and foggy forest below.

Dwarf Japanese Cedar

(Cinema | Games)

The Dwarf Japanese Cedar makes a lovely landscape asset for archviz environments much like the one found in “The Devil in the Details,”

London Plane

(Cinema | Games)

This shady broadleaf thrives in urban environments like the sprawling cityscape of “Baghdad”

Coconut Palm

(Games)

Palms adorn the tropical landscape of “Lemon,” and nothing says tropical quite like the classic coconut palm

American Sycamore

(Cinema | Games)

The upward reaching branches of the broadleaf in Gerard Coquemont’s (or Fuku’s) “Imaginary Trip” remind us of the American Sycamore.

Coastal Live Oak

(Cinema)

The Coastal Live Oak resembles the tree growing on the shell of the sauropod and would feel at home both on the back of these giants as well as in the foggy forest below.
