Description
Apple
The Malus pumila is a variety of Apple tree that covers both cultivated and naturalized Apple trees. They are grown for both their fruit and their ornamental value. The apple as we know it today is thought to have originated from Central Asia through a chance hybridization among wild apple trees followed by thousands of years of selection and cultivation. More apples are consumed worldwide than all the other tree fruits combined.
