Coconut Palm
Cocos nucifera, commonly known as the Coconut Palm, is a common seaside tree and one of the most important crops of the tropics. Sometimes referred to as the “tree of life”, the coconut palm provides food, fuel, and building materials, among many other resources. A member of the Arecaceae family, its stem is comprised of sclerified cell tissue, forming a dense “trunk” that is strong like concrete but also flexible enough to endure harsh storm winds.
