Bald Cypress (Taxodium Distichum)
The Bald or ‘Swamp’ Cypress is commonly associated with the Bayou, as it grows in marshes and wetlands. Distinctive characteristics include ‘toadstools’, or knee roots which resurface above the water line and a distinctively thick and fissured base.
